Nick is a Sydney-based music educator, pianist, and musicologist with over 13 years of professional experience. His primary piano teachers have included Lee Jordan Anders, Oksana Lutsyshyn, Maria Clodes Jaguaribe, Natalie Phillips, and Eric Huebner. He received a master’s degree in piano performance and a Ph.D. in music history and theory from the University at Buffalo (SUNY). He also conducted postdoctoral research on a Fulbright fellowship at the Liszt Academy of Music in Budapest, Hungary.

More recently, Nick has served on the musicology faculty at the University at Buffalo and currently writes program notes for the New York Philharmonic. He is also an active chamber musician and specialist in contemporary classical repertoire and has worked with many conductors, including Brad Lubman, Robert Treviño, Christian Baldini, Eduardo Leandro, and James Baker.

As a piano teacher, Nick has taught students ranging in age from 4 to 86 and thoroughly enjoys working with people of all skill levels and aspirations. Along with a strong technical foundation, he aims to instill in his students a solid theoretical, historical, and humanistic grounding as a means of exploring with them connections between technique, musical form, and interpretation. Above all, he encourages students to approach music-making as intellectually stimulating, fulfilling, and a playful way of being in the world.
